The Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2012 collection, was to me a continuation from Spring 2010, the idea that the models have undergone a tragic event of being on a sunken ship and they had to adapt underwater in order to live on. Alexander McQueen started the story and now Sarah Burton has showcased the next chapter. Attention to detail was a prominent element of this collection. Coral, crystals, and mother-of-pearl decorated the surfaces of these mythical garments. In the beginning of the collection the models were dressed in body-hugging, tailored garments, with an obvious feminine edge which was shown by the pleated hems and cuffs of these pieces. The collection took a theatrical turn in the later part, as Sarah Burton provided us with show-stopping dresses and one elaborate tulle cloak. The theatricality didn’t end with the clothes, the shoes were just as interesting and creative.-idreamofaworldofcouture
